The Roaring 20's: Halloween With a Touch of History

The roaring 20's was a time of decadence, freedom, and albeit illegal free flowing liquor. The prohibition had struck a society that wanted to escape from the weight of WWI and do nothing but party. I think we can all relate to the roaring 20's escapism. That's why we have such a “roaring” time each time Halloween comes around. It's our time of abundance and partying each year.

What better way to embody what Halloween is all about than with a costume cut from the cloth of our forefathers and fore-flappers. Our history books are stocked with bundles of gangsters like Lucky Luciano, who was dubbed the father of modern organized crime. Halloween has to have some element of something scary doesn't it? Nothing is scarier than the original Godfather.

If you love books, why not have an homage to the flappers in “The Great Gatsby.” There is nothing sexier than a flapper. The freedom that the underground scene lent to women in the 1920's lead to much more freedom in style and expression. To freely express yourself you sometimes have to get a little silly and have a little fun!

Sarah Wallner, CEO of Musotica.com and celebrity stylist says, “History informs the styles we have now. We are constantly changing minor details but the base of the style goes back to a defining period in history. The 1920's was defining for mens and women's fashion. It opened the floodgates for a new era of fashion.”

The defining nature of the era makes it so interesting, fun, sexy, and a perfect fit for Halloween partiers. Nothing is cooler than a bad apple from the big apple or a flapper looking for a dance party. Where ever you end up on Halloween night, show up in style.

The characters, fashion, and rich history make the 1920's a wonderful time to celebrate this Halloween, luckily the booze will be legal (and drink responsibly). Happy Halloween!
